VCP Energy & Power GmbH is a Vienna-based company specialising in ownership, management and development of power generating assets. It is a majority owned subsidiary of VCP Capital Partners with the remaining shares being held by its management.
VCP Energy & Power GmbH puts a regional focus on Central and Eastern Europe, stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea, which is extended eastwards to the Caucasus and southwards to the Mediterranean Sea. It capitalises on the experience of the team as well as on the strengths of its parent.
The ageing power generation infrastructure throughout the CEE region, the environmental impositions by both the Kyoto Protocol and EU regulations coupled with the closure of several Chernobyl type reactors and the scrapping of environmentally harmful thermal power stations will result in electricity shortages all over Europe and requires substantial investments in the sector. VCP Energy & Power GmbH aims at filling that gap by acquiring plants, some of which are using outdated technology, by providing investments and upgrades necessary to enable continuous operation within the requirements of the EU and by imposing modern operating and contractual procedures. Another major field of interest is renewable energy since the increased emphasis on renewable sources requires substantial investments.
