VCP Energy invests in Italian renewable energy generation
VCP Energy Holding, a subsidiary of Vienna Capital Partners Unternehmensberatungs AG, Central Europe’s leading private equity investor, has signed an agreement to establish Energreen S.p.A, a wind energy service and development company, together with prominent Italian partners.

Energreen will develop and manage renewable energy plants, especially wind-farms in Italy.

Apart from the stake held by VCP Energy, Energreen’s equity will be held by Energetyca (a company located in Bergamo and controlled by Equipe Holding), Bergamo Energia, a company controlled by the Province of Bergamo, as well as Giudici, the major construction company.

Prof. Giorgio Mazzanti, former President of Eni, Prof. Giuseppe Gatti, former General Manager of the Italian Ministry of Industrial Activities and Engineer Paolo Lucarno, former General Manager of Tamoil Petroli, will form the senior management team of Energreen.

Energreen’s first project will be the development of a wind energy farm with a total capacity of 200 MW. Construction will commence after the winter season.

„Our investment in the growing North-Italian electricity market is a natural extension of our presence in the Central European region, where we believe environmentally-friendly power generation will have an important role in future”, says Heinrich Pecina, Senior Partner of Vienna Capital Partners.

„The Central European power sector is characterised by insufficient investment in future capacity. This will inevitably lead to supply shortages. VCP Energy aims to invest in power generation all over the region and sees the development of renewable energy sources as a significant first step for the company. Other investments in renewable energy and in conventional generation are currently contemplated.” says Bob Hankes-Drielsma, CEO of VCP Energy.
